Manufacturing and export of Mexican train is not as big as the automotive vehicles but in the mentioned period, it beats the one of aircraft and parts, vessels and floating devices.

In the second month of the year were sold abroad $182.3 million dollars, which is a significant increase from the $77 million dollars exported in the same period in 2011.

In February Mexican exports of trains and parts grew 135.7% annual, the highest rate among all manufacturing products, according to the Bank of Mexico.

Mexico exported locomotives that use diesel or electricity as energy source, wagons for transport; spare parts for vehicles, containers and railways.

Records of the Secretariat of Economy identifies more than 20 companies involved in export, however Bombardier is undoubtedly boosting more this activity.

In the premises of this company, where three quarters of the trains that circulate in the subway of the country’s capital city, have been built, the Secretary of Economy emphasized that the role of this company in regional development in Mexico has been fundamental.

The most important sector of exports from Hidalgo is the metal mechanic, which represents, on average, 48% of the exports of the state of Hidalgo.

For the company, the quality of the Mexican labor has been paramount to achieve competitiveness abroad.

Ciudad Sahagun and Huehuetoca, in the State of Mexico, plants are strategic for Bombardier Transportation, because there are produced trains of very high quality thanks to the excellent level of Mexican labor and to perfection and reinvestment systems, explained Barbara Corral, spokeswoman for Bombardier Transportation Mexico.

In Mexico, this Canadian company manufactures cars, electrical harnesses, components, assemblies and drive systems, among others, for projects that aimed worldwide.

The Secretariat of Economy reports that among the countries to which Mexico sells this kind of products is the United States, where is sent 96% of exports.

However, it highlights that there are also large exports to destinations not conventional, like India, China, Australia or Cuba, where both parts for locomotives and wagons are sent as material for railways.

The executive confirmed that export destinations have diversified in recent months.

'We have expanded our range of export, mainly to North America, but to support the global strategy of the company we have managed to manufacture and send trains and trams to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia),' said Corral. (Mexican Business Web with information from Reforma)
