Sustainability
At this point, after several years of debate and speculation, no one doubts that the planet is in danger; unless we take an innovative approach regarding the forms and processes to exploit natural resources and develop our supply chains, the planet will react violently to predation, either in the form of an increase in natural disasters, or through regenerative failure of the ecosystem.
Change must start with the organizations. Sustainability, conceived as the appropriate exploitation of natural resources, is a dynamic that permeates in enterprises and public institutions. The best sustainable practices, therefore, are key issues to our coverage area.
One of the main challenges Mexico is facing is to include the environment as one of the elements of competitiveness and economic and social development. Only then can be achieved sustainable development. Unfortunately, efforts to conserve natural resources and ecosystems are often hampered by a vicious cycle that includes natural resource depletion, environmental degradation and poverty.
In Mexico, consumption of fossil fuels is the factor that generates more these gases, which is aggravated by the lack of an efficient transport system to reduce its generation. Harmful agricultural and livestock practices as well as technological backwardness in much of industry, also contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases.
Protection of ecosystems and biodiversity has become an affair of state. Mexico is the fourth country with the greatest biodiversity. However, it is also one of the countries where biodiversity is threatened by the destruction of ecosystems, which implies an international responsibility.
This destructive process is largely a result of lack of resources and alternative economic activities of communities that operate them. In this sense, the lack of opportunities for the sustainable use of wildlife has been a very important factor.
